The planners of the We Will Be Heard event would like to thank everyone that participated in all the events from July 4-18. We’d like to thank the 52 amazing creators, the talented performers, the incredible artists and the passionate panelists that helped bring our sl community together to mourn, grieve, educate, learn, grow and get stronger. The event raised $1,000,000 with some generous contributions from many people that believe in our cause. The winning charity with 98% of the vote was the Breonna Taylor Legal Fund. All proceeds raised went to this charity and we have included screen captures of the transactions. We will also post this on our website and Facebook.
Thank you for the opportunity to engage our Black Second Life community in responding to the daily violence faced by Black people. We Will Be Heard will return again next year to champion for the the rights of the under heard. There is still much work to be done, but the tide is starting to turn and now is the time to keep charging full steam ahead. Please keep talking, keep protesting, keep donating, keep educating, keep elevating Black voices and VOTE!
